Tibetan Rituals in a U.S. Church. Worse than Germany: On Monday, more than 60 Tibetans gathered at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley, Massachusetts, to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 91st birthday and mark the conclusion of the "Year of Compassion," an initiative of the Central Tibetan Administration. The event opened with a ritual in which participants chanted "Om" three times and tossed tsampa (barley flour) into the air. Attendees also made mandala offerings by bowing and placing a white ceremonial scarf before a photo of the Dalai Lama. The celebration continued with speeches, traditional Tibetan songs and dances, and performances by students from a local Tibetan Sunday school.

@HicksonMaike Pope Leo just appointed a bishop to the Diocese of Eichstätt who has been a supporter of the German Syndodal Path, its re-assessment of homosexuality and of female ordination. Not a sign that the pope wishes to correct the current developments in the Church.
On July 6, Cardinal Gerhard Müller told K-TV.org that FSSPX confessions are illicit but valid. Now he has repeated his disagreement with the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith. Its explanatory note from July 2 had claimed that confessions heard by FSSPX priests are "invalid." "The note from the Dicastery, which appears only as explanatory notes, is unclear," Cardinal Müller told Andreas Wailzer on X.com on July 8. He added: "The authority to forgive sins is conferred by Christ Himself in the sacrament of Holy Orders. It is not conferred by the Pope through his primacy of jurisdiction. Orthodox priests, too, validly grant absolution." Müller continued: "The Pope can only prohibit the exercise of this authority. He can also reserve certain sins for his own absolution. One example is the sin against the unity of the Church, committed through an unauthorized episcopal consecration." #newsMpjletlqsm

U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See Brian Burch has described an informal Independence Day dinner he hosted for Pope Leo XIV at his residence in Rome. Speaking with Italian media, Burch said the pope arrived at 7:30 p.m. on July 4, prayed with the ambassador's family, and shared a meal featuring American charcuterie, watermelon salad, Chicago-style hot dogs, apple pie, and gelato. Burch said Leo XIV approved of the menu. The pope arrived without aides or secretaries, accompanied only by two Vatican gendarmes. Burch said he invited Leo XIV to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States by hosting the first U.S.-born pope. The invitation was sent about two months before the dinner, and confirmation came about a month later. The ambassador also said Leo XIV still carries a Peruvian credit card, uses a cellphone, follows the Chicago White Sox, and sometimes wakes during the night to check soccer scores. The dinner took place the same day Leo XIV visited Lampedusa. Burch said the pope rejected …Zwiṅwe

Turin Parish Holds Funeral for Muslim. Worse than Germany: On 3 July, the body of an Iranian Muslim was brought to Sant'Anna parish in Turin for a ceremony led by the parish priest, Don Valter Danna. The service included Christian prayers and the use of incense. Don Danna said it was not a Catholic funeral but rather a "prayer of farewell," explaining that the family had close ties to the parish. He confirmed that the ceremony was intentionally distinguished from a Catholic funeral.
"Diciamo che si è persa la capacità di costruire un bel luogo dove ritrovarsi. La freddezza della struttura in cemento armato, l'assenza completa di qualcosa che assomigli ad un segno di vita nel luogo è tipico dei luoghi Religiosi; come privato della Sua parte migliore il luogo rende opprimente la sosta e forte la voglia di correre via. CATHOLIC DOCTRINE TEACHES: CCC 1184 "Ecclesiastical funeral rites are to be denied, unless the deceased gave some signs of repentance before death: 1. to notorious apostates, heretics, or schismatics; 2. to those who requested the cremation of their bodies for reasons contrary to the Christian faith; 3. to other manifest sinners, to whom ecclesiastical funeral rites cannot be granted without public scandal to the faithful." Can. 1185 Any funeral Mass must also be denied to a person excluded from ecclesiastical funeral rites.
Following the FSSPX episcopal consecrations, Philippe Darantière hopes "for great goodwill toward us on the part of the bishops," he told OsvNews.com on July 7. Since 2025, he has been president of the Notre-Dame de Chrétienté association, which organizes the annual Paris-to-Chartres pilgrimage, France. For Darantière, contact between the faithful attached to the traditional Roman rite and the bishops of France is "still tentative." It varies depending on the diocese and the specific circumstances there. "We do not communicate much with the bishops," he admitted. He also expressed his hope for "improvements in relations with the bishops, particularly in the summer, when there are many requests for weddings and baptisms in the traditional rite from the faithful who are attached to the traditional rite but who are far from their usual parish." Darantière is supporting Pope Leo XIV's visit to France in September. The association Notre-Dame de Chrétienté is providing volunteers and encouraging …Zwiṅwe

Catholics may not knowingly take part in the liturgical celebrations, apostolates, or other activities of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, Archbishop Shawn McKnight of Kansas City, Kansas, wrote in a July 2 statement following the episcopal consecrations. McKnight noted that the SSPX's ministry "is not legitimate in the life of the Church" and that "the sacraments of Penance and Matrimony administered by them are now invalid." Participation in the worship of the "schismatic" community fosters separation from the Church's communion, he added: "Such participation is not merely discouraged but is gravely contrary to the unity of the Church and, when undertaken with full knowledge and deliberate consent, is sinful." #newsAetnoekkoi

On July 6, Cardinal Müller spoke with K-TV about the Traditional Latin Mass and the FSSPX episcopal consecrations. Key statements: - "The implementation of the liturgical reform was marked by many abuses because many failed to grasp the spirit of the renewed liturgy and neglected its essential elements: the worship of God, the communication of salvation, and reverence before God." - "The so-called old rite is not forbidden. Rather, it is permitted to a certain extent and under certain conditions, and it is, of course, valid." - "Pope Benedict XVI made the wise decision that the same Latin liturgy could be celebrated in both its ordinary and extraordinary forms." - "The faithful always have the opportunity to attend the Holy Mass celebrated according to the older form." - "Many people may have sympathies for the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X because they believe that the Catholic faith and the liturgy are being preserved there against many of the abuses found in modernist circles.…Zwiṅwe

Pope Leo XIV just appointed a German bishop who supported same-sex blessings, gender ideology, and LGBT initiatives. The same Vatican that celebrated that appointment has now imposed canonical sanctions on the Society of Saint Pius X, sanctions that require a more demanding process for lifting than the procedure for Catholics who have procured an abortion. The comparison is stark. The priorities are exposed. The inconsistencies that have left traditional Catholics reeling are now being seen. John-Henry Westen also investigates a widely circulated letter attributed to Bishop Fulton Sheen criticizing the SSPX. While the letter may be genuine, the host argues it likely does not reflect Sheen's own thinking, citing historical inaccuracies, Sheen's declining health, and the possibility that staff drafted much of his correspondence. The Vatican's treatment of the SSPX is not about discipline. It is about eliminating the Traditional Latin Mass and the communities that preserve it. The episcopal …Zwiṅwe
This is not meant to be uncharitable, but Fulton Sheen should not be a yardstick to measure orthodoxy. Whatever zeal he had initially, he was full bore a lover of VCII, Paul VI and the new mass. I am sure with that pedigree he was not a friend of Abp. Lefebvre or the Society
Personally, I don't think Bishop Sheen wrote the letter. It doesn't sound like Bishop Sheen at all. This is someone's opinion. And it seems like they had something against the SSPX. Maybe someone who was part of the novus ordo mess or preferred it to the Latin Mass. But I don't believe Bishop Sheen had anything to do with writing it.
