Claretian Missionaries Leave Zamora and León. After 125 years of educational and evangelizing work, the Claretian Missionaries are leaving Zamora. Farewell events are scheduled for October 23 and 24, including a thanksgiving Mass at Zamora Cathedral. The congregation is also leaving León after 57 years, closing its residential care facility. Religious life, both male and female, is disappearing from Spain at an alarming pace. Vocations are virtually nonexistent, while deaths, departures, and community closures have become everyday realities.

Priest dies after being struck by falling wooden cross during livestreamed Mass. Father Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari, a Redemptorist priest, died on October 17, after a large wooden cross detached from the wall behind the altar and struck him during Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The Archdiocese of Guayaquil confirmed his death. It remains unclear why the cross fell.
