María Montserrat Alvarado's appointment to lead the Vatican's Dicastery for Communication raises questions about the relationship between ecclesiastical governance and Holy Orders. Writing on X.com on June 2, Spanish diocesan priest and theology professor Jaime Mercant Simó argued that, at a theological level, it is not appropriate for even a theologically less importat dicastery, such as the Dicastery for Communication, to be headed by a layperson. Rev. Mercant noted that the Roman Curia is not merely an administrative structure. Every prefect of a dicastery acts with “vicarious power” in the name of the pope. “Mrs. Alvarado will exercise effective administrative jurisdiction and will have, albeit in an internal manner, real power over the bishops, priests, and religious who work in that dicastery,” he wrote. He argued that the appointment represents a separation between the power of governance and Holy Orders, from which the Church's munus regendi (“office of governance”), …More
Rebecca Virelles (This story originally appeared onBeyond These Stone Walls) Before you read about the two men named above, please know they are real people, living at the time of this writing, who are dear to many on earth and in heaven. Though you may never meet them in this life, please extend mercy with your heart and read their stories carefully. Historical Context Father Gordon MacRae is an American priest who is currently serving up to 67 years in prison. He was wrongly convicted of sexual assault in 1994. At the time of this writing, he has spent 32 years in prison for crimes for which he is wholly innocent, crimes that never took place. Because Father MacRae maintains his innocence, he will never receive parole and thus will serve the full 67 years, a life sentence, unless some other intervention materializes. The Evidence In 2005 and 2013, Dorothy Rabinowitz, an award-winning journalist wrote multiple articles for The Wall Street Journal covering this egregious injustice: …
Fri Jun 5, 2026 - 7:56 am EDT MADRID (LifeSiteNews) — A Vatican briefing document for journalists covering Pope Leo XIV’s trip to Spain describes socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez as a champion of “social rights” despite his government’s work to expand access to euthanasia and abortion. On June 4, Spanish journalist María Rabell García published a document on El Debate distributed by the Holy See Press Office to accredited journalists ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s apostolic visit to Spain. The text, prepared by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication and intended to assist media coverage of the papal trip, presents Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez as a political leader who has promoted economic growth and “social rights.” The document will serve as background material for reporters covering events during the visit, including a private meeting between Pope Leo XIV and Sánchez scheduled for June 8 in Madrid. “The text is presented as a working instrument that gathers information …

Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira If we were to form an exact idea of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we could begin to love Him as we should. In the nineteenth century, the Sacred Heart of Jesus was always represented as profoundly kind, merciful, ready to forgive, but also as profoundly serious, profoundly serious! Some of His attitudes toward souls were symbolized in His images. These expressed overflowing affection, but were never smiling. They always had a background of the sadness of one who had plumbed the depths of wickedness in men’s souls and suffered entirely on account of it. This is symbolized by the heart surrounded with a crown of thorns and wounded by the spear of Longinus. Both crown and wound represent the affectionate sadness, patient but profound, of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The depth of that sadness is unfathomable, infinite, yet it is not ill-tempered, it is not vindictive. It is a kindness that extends further than the eye can see. It is a kindness in face of our offenses – …More

House passes Ukraine aid bill in another GOP … They are still at it. Giving zelensky 9 billion dollars and putting more Sanctions on Russia!!!! This is what our government does. They support and help the evil doers of the world and go after those who mind their own business, seeking peace. Who do nothing but ask to just get along and help out poorer nations and countries. This is what they get for trying to good. Since trump took office they all tried to assassinate him TWICE months apart! zelensky has been bombing inside of Russia a lot since trump took office. He refuses to stop INTEL to them. NOW he is giving away Our money to the crack head in Ukraine. Let's see which house in which country he will buy next. Or how many more fur coats and expensive clothing is air head wife will buy with OUR MONEY!
Every evil person hates Russia. Wants Putin dead. Why? All he ever does is ask to get along. To help combat terrorists as he has done in Syria and countries in Africa. Reaching his hand out to everyone to help one another and help other countries who are less fortunate. How they hate anyone who is good and kind. How sickening it is to see it every day. Putin not involved with epstein, brought faith back to the Russian people. Made his country beautiful and prosperous once again. And they hate him for it. NEVER forget ursala von der leyen and what she said, we do it for their FAITH AND the new world order. That says it all right there.

The effects that this devotion produces in a faithful soul 53. Experience will teach you much more about this devotion than I can tell you, but, if you remain faithful to the little I have taught you, you will acquire a great richness of grace that will surprise you and fill you with delight. 54. Let us set to work, then, dear soul, through perseverance in the living of this devotion, in order that Mary's soul may glorify the Lord in us and her spirit be within us to rejoice in God her Saviour. Let us not think that there was more glory and happiness in dwelling in Abraham's bosom - which is another name for Paradise - than in dwelling in the bosom of Mary where God has set up his throne. Second video is full video of the conversation of mercenary and family. Watch the video call between William Andres Gallego Orozco and his family in full below. It's said 9 out of 10 Colombians die in the Ukraine war. The rest run away and go back. If they are able to get away from the Ukraine army that is. As he is a mercenary, he is not entitled to International law and can be killed on the spot. But once again Russia still saves as many lives as they can. Showing mercy and charity to all.
“The renewal of the Church begins in the renewal of the family.” For years I’ve worked with Catholic parents who feel overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure how to form their children in a culture that pulls them in every direction. The truth is simple but demanding: grace flows most powerfully through the ordinary, hidden life of the home. I’ve launched a small apostolate to help families reclaim that mission — strengthening prayer in the home, restoring discipline rooted in charity, and forming children to love Christ above the world. If you’re a parent, teacher, or simply someone who cares about the next generation, I’d be grateful for your prayers. I’ll be posting reflections here regularly. May God raise up holy families, and through them, a holy Church. #Catholic#Family#Tradition#Spirituality#Parenting
Montse Alvarado: Francis Beautifully Stuffed Vatican with Laypeople: During an interview for EWTN in January 2024, the next Prefect of the Vatican Dicastery for Communication, Montse Alvarado, called it a “beautiful story” that Pope Francis “has really started to bring laypeople in”: “He has appointed laypeople to different dicasteries to really give us a sense of what the Church on the ground feels like.”
It is beautiful that Pope Franics stuffed the Vatican Curia with laypeople - said Montse Alvarado, the new prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, in EWTN News in January 2024.
