The Synod adopts elements similar to Germany's Synodal Path, particularly through the relativization of doctrine and the decentralization of authority. Particular criticism is directed at the description of synodality as a “constitutive dimension” of the Church. The authors argue that this undermines the traditional understanding of the Church as defined by its marks of unity, holiness, catholicity, and apostolicity. This initiative is part of the 'Summer Oratory' (Oratorio Estivo) programme at San Giovanni Bosco parish. The Catholic Women's Community of Germany (kfd) has called for abortions to be permitted in Catholic hospitals, adopting the position at its federal assembly in Mainz last weekend. Delegates approved by a large majority an eleven-page policy paper titled "Between the Protection of Life and Self-Determination: The kfd's Positions and Perspectives on Section 218 of the German Criminal Code." The document states that "pregnancy terminations must also be possible in Catholic hospitals," claiming that the current lack of access endangers the physical and mental health of mothers with unintended pregnancies.
