The French Ministry of the Armed Forces and the City of Versailles have announced on July 23 that the former Récollets Convent in Versailles will be converted into a luxury hotel. Built in 1684 during the reign of King Louis XIV, the convent was designed by architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. It originally housed the Récollets, a reformed branch of the Franciscan Order.
